Autodistribution International

Press release 16.11.12

On 16th November 2012, the Boards of Directors of Autodistribution International (ADI) and the Independent Motor Trade Factors Association (IFA) announced that the IFA will join ADI as an affiliated ADI-Partner on 1st January 2013.

The IFA will be in a position to enhance its strong position in the UK independent aftermarket by benefiting from the European experience of ADI and of its leading network of partners.

Autodistribution International, the leading wholesale trade group in the European automotive replacement business was founded in 1970. With its presence in 31 countries, ADI develops its activities in a market of 830 million consumers and 296 million passenger cars. In 2011, through their 2,000 wholesale outlets, the 500 AD-distributors sold mainly to professional repair and body shops well over 5.7 billion euros of quality automotive parts, accessories, tools and equipment. ADI supports the different country organisations in their development of a comprehensive range of added-value services to their professional customers.

The IFA – formed back in 1977 – was one of the first automotive aftermarket distributor groups in the UK. Through substantial growth over the years, the IFA has 35 members and nearly 200 well-stocked branches in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland distributing components for cars and commercial vehicles, as well as garage equipment & tools, diagnostics, car care products and, in addition, it provides training. Purchases from suppliers benefiting from group-wide agreements exceed 120 million euros. The IFA network provides – in a market of 63.7 million inhabitants and a car parc in excess of 28.7 million cars – a full package of services, concepts and assistance to its professional customers to help them strengthen their position and guarantee their future in the UK independent repair market.

At the signing of the partnership agreement Mr. Olivier Roux, ADI-President, commented: “we are pleased to welcome IFA to ADI. This marks ADI’s re-entry in the important UK market. We believe that IFA is well placed to represent ADI in the UK. We chose to support IFA after a detailed study of its ambitious business plan. IFA have a long tradition of dealing with OE brands, so their policy fits well with the expectations the ADI has from them. This new Partnership will boost IFA’s business, and will strengthen the triangular partnership between ADI, the ADI-Partners and the ADI suppliers.”
“We are very happy with the decision taken to join ADI. We strongly believe that we can enhance business opportunities for ADI, the IFA and its Members and our Suppliers”, said Mr Gary Kennett, the IFA’s Chairman.”
